We would like your views on the early design for a leisure development at Hollybush Lakes, Aldershot.
The site at Hollybush Lakes is a unique proposal to provide a new leisure development for the local area focused entirely on its natural setting.
The proposal aims to enhance and restore the natural setting of the site, increasing ecological diversity whilst offering an exemplar leisure destination within the south of England. The existing fishing facilities are to be retained and enhanced with a diverse range of additional activities on site for multiple demographics.
The proposals include improved parking provision for North Camp Station, adding an additional 75 spaces for public use. This will aid in controlling uncontrolled parking in the area whilst offering provision for local residents for commuting.
A unique and exemplary designed two-storey aquatic sports centre which utilises the neighbouring lakes to offer water based activities such as kayaking, open water swimming, boating and a seasonal inflatable assault course. The building houses gym facilities and an elevated café offering views out across the lakes.
Enclosed within the existing bund on site, is housed the equestrian centre, offering stabling, grazing and schooling facilities alongside overnight guest accommodation for a local riding school.
To the lakes to the south are Floating holiday accommodation offering immersive lakeside holiday accommodation and fishing experiences for visiting guests and introduces “eco-tourism” to the local area.
Development offers the opportunity to restore the former commercial uses of the site back to nature for public enjoyment with ecological enhancement. The project aims to re-open the blackwater footpath for public use and encourage residents to enjoy the beauty of the lakeside with improved connectivity.
